Since Christmas I'm lucky enough to have quite a few commissions lined up, and lovely large ones at that! I'm currently working on 2 large scale 100cm x 100cm canvas for two separate clients which is exciting - it's lovely to work with a square canvas as it gives the painting a different balance. I've also got another bigger landscape canvas to work on & since my previous post another family member has requested a 50cm x 100cm painting. I also need to continue with my darker
Back on the painting! After a couple of relaxing weeks off I am painting again & loving it. I've got a few commissions that I need to crack on with and a few I need to start!
This one is a very exciting commission for me as it's going to (hopefully) be a lot more dramatic. I've decided to start with deep colours to avoid my usual pattern of painting with white first. I've used deep blues, charcoal greys and blacks to really get the drama before I even start applying extra co
Yesterday I handed over a commission I'd be working on for a few weeks. It was a beautiful series of 3 small paintings in black frames. I found this to be a very enjoyable commission. I am naturally drawn to blues, greys and charcoals so the layering of colours and balance of the paintings really came together perfectly.
Each of the paintings has a unique feel about it. Each one is different and has it's own colour balance. I will put up photos of the paintings this weekend:
Embracing the green again! Having a lovely weekend adding different shades of green to one of the smaller commissions I'm currently working on. It's progressing really well at the moment, I'm really pleased with how it's going. I have included some close up images below to show the layers built up. When working on smaller commissions I tend to start work with 5 or 6 pieces of paper and work on all of them simultaneously until 3 or 4 of the paintings feel like they are progres
Working on a grey & green commission today! It's nice to use green again, haven't used it for a while. This is an early stage photograph, you can tell from how clean the newspaper is! This commission needs more drama! I need to mix a slightly cleaner green I think as this one feels a little too khaki, it needs to be slightly bluer, deeper & richer. Maybe then I'll also need to mix a more plant green, with a touch of yellow to lime it up a bit! I've spent a couple of hours wor
My blue commissions from last week were delivered on Friday and look fantastic in situ! I have become so fond of these 3 paintings. Each one is so unique and special and it's so lovely to see them in such a beautiful living room! #Commissions #Paintings
