Minis! I've been having a really lovely time at the moment creating more minis in preparation for Country Living. I did have a look at the 120 paintings I have painted so far & felt I was missing the darker, more dramatic pieces. SO I'm on a mission to experiment with some new colours & add more depth to my latest minis! Any new colour combinations welcome :) #Mini #Paintings #CountryLiving
Well it's been a manic few weeks! I received news yesterday that I would be featuring as 'Artist of the Month' in a beautiful homeware store in Nottingham. I'm very excited as I enquired about it over 2 months ago and heard nothing so just assumed it wasn't going to happen! So now I've got to crack on and get a body of smaller paper pieces together ready for July:) I also want to get some more mini's on Etsy this weekend which means I best get cracking! #Mini #Paintings
Mini's! So I decided to start an easy store and try and sell my smaller mini pieces and see how it went....and I'm so pleased with the results! I've managed to sell 9 paintings off Etsy in 3 weeks, which has sparked interest in people contacting me about commissioned minis, never a bad thing! On the weekend we were moving I managed to sell 5 mini paintings that hadn't even made it to Etsy yet, which was really great (slightly stressful when moving....). So....that's where I a
I've recently had a few commissions for my smaller framed mini paintings. They seem to be very popular & I really enjoy creating them. I love experimenting with colour & texture within a small 12cm x 12cm square. I have quite a few at the moment that just need their finishing touches and then they will be ready to sell :) Watch this space! #Mini #Paintings #Colours #Texture
I've finally started framing my mini paintings ready for selling! These two are ready for new homes:) I love seeing the paintings framed as they really come together & look complete! #Mini #Paintings #Framed
Since Christmas I'm lucky enough to have quite a few commissions lined up, and lovely large ones at that! I'm currently working on 2 large scale 100cm x 100cm canvas for two separate clients which is exciting - it's lovely to work with a square canvas as it gives the painting a different balance. I've also got another bigger landscape canvas to work on & since my previous post another family member has requested a 50cm x 100cm painting. I also need to continue with my darker
This weekend is a busy one! We're doing a few jobs around the house but I'm also hopping that I can slip away and get painting! My dark paintings are coming along nicely, however I've also got a few other commissions that I need to tweak. They're nearly there but just need that extra little something! I'm also planning to photograph quite a few paintings this weekend for my own reference and for this website! #Weekend #Paintings
Whilst I've been painting my darker commission I have also started doing some more smaller pieces that will go into frames. I was having so much fun working with darker tones that it just seemed natural to create a few smaller ones. The smaller paintings look so lovely when framed that it makes it quite an exciting painting process. #Small #Paintings #Dark #Tones
Back on the painting! After a couple of relaxing weeks off I am painting again & loving it. I've got a few commissions that I need to crack on with and a few I need to start!
This one is a very exciting commission for me as it's going to (hopefully) be a lot more dramatic. I've decided to start with deep colours to avoid my usual pattern of painting with white first. I've used deep blues, charcoal greys and blacks to really get the drama before I even start applying extra co
I did this lovely painting as I was working on the 3 blue commissions from a few weeks ago. I tend to always work on extra canvas/paper as I don't want to feel restricted. From those paintings came this! It has a different feel about it, it's more structured. I added only a small hint of oil pastel and then it felt complete. I painted this for my lovely Auntie who is a keen follower of the blog! I thought she might appreciate a painting:) On Boxing Day she sent me these photo
Now Christmas is over I can start to put photos up of the pieces I've been working on for Christmas gifts. This painting was for my brother & his girlfriend who have just bought a lovely new house. I was struggling with this painting to begin with, however I now think it's one of my favourites! It was lacking a pop of colour so I spent a few days before Christmas adding pops of yellow with oil pastels (the last stage before my paintings are finished is the oil pastel stage!).
Yesterday I handed over a commission I'd be working on for a few weeks. It was a beautiful series of 3 small paintings in black frames. I found this to be a very enjoyable commission. I am naturally drawn to blues, greys and charcoals so the layering of colours and balance of the paintings really came together perfectly.
Each of the paintings has a unique feel about it. Each one is different and has it's own colour balance. I will put up photos of the paintings this weekend:
The grey & green paintings I completed last weekend were passed on to their new owners in the week and I've just received this! It looks lovely in Emily's newly decorated living room, the perfect home! #Paintings #Home #Green #Grey
My blue commissions from last week were delivered on Friday and look fantastic in situ! I have become so fond of these 3 paintings. Each one is so unique and special and it's so lovely to see them in such a beautiful living room! #Commissions #Paintings
